Abstract

|
Children with cerebral palsy are significantly related to undernutrition, and the nutrient intake of disabled children is important for their health as well as life quality improvement. It is well known that deficiency of folate or vitamin B12 can cause megaloblastic anemia. In children, more than 95% of megaloblastic anemia is caused by folate deficiency, one of the most common micronutrient deficiencies next to iron deficiency. However, this is rarely seen in developed countries, except some cases like malnutrition. We describe a case of megaloblastic anemia caused by folic acid deficiency in a child with cerebral palsy.
